Do you suffer from joint pain, fatigue, fever for no obvious reason? A skin rash? Hair loss? General discomfort?

A few years ago, those were the symptoms I suffered from for months until I was finally diagnosed with Systemic lupus erythematosis, an auto immune disease in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue and organs. Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs. The Lupus Foundation of America estimates that 1.5 million Americans, and at least five million people worldwide, have a form of lupus.

Because of a new experimental drug, I have been in remission for one year. But the money and research that went into the development of the new drug, and allowed me to lead a normal life free from pain, was funded due to the efforts of people like you. The drugs developed for my lupus, and many other autoimmune diseases, depends on fundraising.
